Our bodies are constantly sending us signals. Somatic therapy is the process of listening carefully to those signals to identify internal conflicts and seek resolution between mind and body to support your overall well-being.

What is somatic therapy?

I was initially drawn to somatic psychology as a mental health counselor working in dual-diagnosis treatment facilities in San Francisco. I noticed that when I would ask our clients about their emotional health, they would often respond with information about their physical health:

Tightness in the throat…

Heaviness in the chest…

Tension in the neck and shoulders

As I somatic therapist, I pay attention to all of these little details which paint a more complete picture of who you are and how you process your emotions. Together, we will track the subtle shifts in your physical state to help you identify, regulate, and release your emotions before becoming overwhelmed by them.

I have had the privilege of witnessing how this process can facilitate profound transformation. I believe nearly everyone can benefit from somatic healing but have found it to be especially effective for those experiencing:

  • Unresolved trauma

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Relationship challenges

  • Attention issues
